SURVIVAL KIT (part 1)

Our new Assistant Regional Director arrived last June 1 and on her first day with us, she shared something that I would want to remember and carry with me. ARD Evelyn calls it the " Survival Kit".
Our survival Kit includes........

TOOTHPICK : There are various ways on how to use a toothpick but oftentimes we associate it in removing the small particles in between our teeth after we're done eating. But people have become more practical and artistic these days. Toothpicks are now a common sight in clubhouse sandwiches and the infamous "tusok-tusok."When dealing with people, we must aslo use a toothpick. But instead of having an array of cocktail fruits and foods, we have an array of attitudes and characteristics to choose from.Hence, we must pick and focus on the positive side of the person. How many people have grown apart because on paying too much attention on the wrong they have done? How many relationships have been broken because of not looking at the good side of the person? If you want to build strong and genuine relationship, remember the first survival kit.

PENCIL : When I started school, I used pencil for writing. I remember how much I wanted to use ballpen then because there are variety of colors to choose from unlike the pencil whose only color is black(boring!). And it's just so ironic because now that I am all grown-up ,whenever I write, I personally prefer pencil than ballpen. Ofcourse, for obvious reasons.. pencil is easier to erase.:-) We use pencil for writing poems, for writing journals, for listing our debts and things that has to be done and so on and so forth. But have we ever tried using our pencil for jotting down the blessings that we have received? If you haven't tried doing so, why not start today?

ERASER: When we want to correct something in our own personal writings or official documents, we resort to our eraser. But the use of erasers must not be limited on papers, chalkboard or whiteboard alone. We must make use of it also in our day to day existence. Mistakes in life is inevitable, but we must not cling on to these mistakes. Learn to erase it and then do the right thing.

BAND-AID : In life, we will have plenty of wounds. In order to prevent our wounds from getting infected, we must use a band-aid. We will be hurt time and again even by people whom we love and value so much. If we keep the wound open, healing might take a long time and it might worsen and eventually lead into complications. So, at the first sight of the wound, put a band-aid right away. The faster it heals, the better!
